Logos in Glass....How we do it.
There are so many ways and different media we can use to get your message permanently into your furniture.
We have taken a few minutes to give an overview of common methods we use. These are more and less appropriate on different glass types with different effects required. Please see some examples and this might help us help you in choosing how we can best get your message across.
The website has a basic costing option, and these are explained below.
Masked and Sandblasted: A masked and sandblasted logo involves us applying a mask or stencil to the glass and then putting the glass through a sandblasting process. This can be done to either have clear glass with a sandblasted logo or to have a sheet of sandblasted glass with a clear glass logo. This video shows a masked area with the unmasked clear glass receiving the compressed air and media leading to frosted glass. We carefully remove the mask and then this leaves you with the Pattern/Logo in the glass.
If we have your artwork as vector-based graphics then we can cut the mask easily. If not then we would have to get this created.
Narrow detail are hard to have masks made... but try us - we love a challenge.
Print to Crystal Vinyl
Where colour is needed, or just lots of detail, that may or may not be permanent, then printing onto a crystal clear vinyl work really well. This can be left as translucent or it can be backed off with white vinyl. The advantage this has over printing straight onto the glass which we do for the bases in the cube base tables, is that it can be removed more easily.
Whilst we talk about vinyl....
Vinyl is cut by machine, from vector-based graphics in the same way that a template mask is made before sandblasting. We can then paint over the vinyl with a glass resin paint sealing it in and leaving the crispiest boldest design. Or alternatively... leave the cut vinyl on the glass alone.
